My pitch idea is to interview Mourad Benikrane, the facilities director for UNE’s campus in Tangier, Morocco. I spent my last semester at this campus, so it is very important to me. Mourad was a guide for me when I was abroad, and he was one of the people who truly made my experience what it was. I would love the opportunity to tell the story of this man, and all of the work he has done, both inside and outside of the UNE community. Mourad is referred to as the most popular man in Tangier by many of his students, and everyone who meets him remembers him for his smile and outgoing personality. He goes out of his way to make every student’s experience the best he can and is always willing to take students around Tangier to learn about different spots. I plan to talk to Mourad, along with some of the other faculty on the Tangier campus, through a video call. I also plan to talk to other students who have had experiences with Mourad and ask them to tell some of their best stories.
A few questions I plan to ask are:
- Where did you grow up? What was your childhood like?
- How did you learn about UNE, and what was this campus like when you first began working here?
- What is your favorite part about living in Morocco? What about your job?
- What is the most memorable experience with a student that you have?
- What other kinds of jobs have you had?
