When looking at each of these prompts, specific works that I have done immediately came to mind. The first essay I discuss is the most memorable assignment I have had in college, a paper where I was assigned to write about my favorite video game. I am not much of a video game player, so I went back to a game I was super into when I was younger, and I was very proud of the way it turned out. I felt that I understood exactly what was asked of me, and wrote a paper that is engaging even for people who aren’t fans of the game. I don’t have many questions, but I think back to the theoreticals posed to me in “Attention in the Age of Distraction”, my freshman seminar. It was about dividing attention, and we explored advertising and writing. This class made my brain work in a way that no other classes have, so I think back to the broad questions posed in this class. My most proud work was my first travel writing piece, which was published in the Moorish Times. It is about my experience volunteering in Tangier, Morocco during my time there, and I feel as though I did a good job capturing the emotions and experiences I had while volunteering. The final piece I chose was my nature journal from ENV 104. This assignment had a lot of potential for me, but I feel like I didn’t put in the work that I could’ve to make this assignment even better. I think the writing is too flowery, and I wish that I could better capture the setting I am talking about.
